Fishery Economy and Management

      

1.      Introduction of discipline

Fishery economy and management is based on the science of economic, management and aquatic, and guided by the principle and method of economics and management, with fishing, fishing villages and fishermen as the research objects, overall to reveal the special forms and application of economic and management pattern in the fisheries sector and micro economic subject.

This subject through many years of development has formed its unique features in fishery resources and environmental economics, market and trade of aquatic product, aquatic products logistics system and fishery institution and policy analysis. The discipline is committed to the following researching areas:

Fishery economic theory and policy: to explore the basic theory of the efficient allocation and utilization of resources in fishery and breeding industries, the fishery industrial structure and adjustment, the fishery support and protection, and agricultural modernization. Some policies in the sustainable utilization of fishery resources, the production, circulation, processing, trade and market regulation of the aquatic product, financial support for fishery   and the labor transfer in fishery village are also included.

Fisheries technology economy: to explore the basic analysis methods and effect evaluation index system of fisheries technology, the assessment of fishery technologic progress, and make technical and economic analysis of fisheries development strategy, development and utilization of fishery resources, and fishery structure and industrial policy.

Market and trade of aquatic product: to explore the history and development hpase,  technical and green barrier to trade, fisheries subsidies and domestic support, trade institution and policy like tariff, competition, and the influence on resources and environment, of aquatic product.

Fishery resources and environmental economics: to explore the relationship between fishery economy development and protection of resources and environment, the influence of different productivity layout on fishery resources and the environment and its economic effect, and carry out economic policy of the control of fishery environmental pollution and policies related to marine resources and environment, and scientific and economical effective fishery environmental standards.

Fishery finance: to figure out the currency circulation and use, investment and financing, fisheries credit and insurance, and other related institutional arrangements, caused by fishery   economic activities.

 Fisheries enterprise management: to explore the general principle of management activities including planning, decision making, coordination and incentive, conducted by the microeconomic corpus during the fisheries production and operation process, as well as principles and methods of other activities like technology, quality, fishery supplies, finance and cost management.

Fishing and agriculture village development: to explore the relationships between economic development of fishery villages and resources like natural resources, capital, labor force, social capital of fishery, economic development phase of fishery village and the strategies, as well as the relationships between the development of fishery village and many other factors like formal and informal institution, industrial structure, developing patterns and trade.
