1Introduction to Discipline

Fisheries sciences is aimed at the sustainable use of economic aquatic animals and plants as the research target. Based on  the relevant research in basic biology, physiology, genetics and ecology of these economic aquatic animals and plants, mastering the regular pattern of growth, development, reproduction and their relationship with environment, for foundation of protection and sustainable utilization of resources; Synchronously by studying the nutritional requirements, disease epidemic regularity, prevention and control, genetic improvement, water environment regulation, remediation technology and so forth, fisheries sciences is the comprehensive discipline to provide technical support for efficient utilization of aquatic animals and plants resources. We set several research directions such as medicine in aquatic animals, nutrition and feed in aquatic animals, genetics and breeding in aquatic animals, aquaculture and multiplication technology and equipments. The medicine in aquatic animals is mainly studying on the etiology of contagion, pathogenesis, drug screening, immune prevention and healthy cultivation from the basic etiology, pathology, pharmacology and immunology; Nutrition and feed in aquatic animals mainly studies on basic theories in front cross fields such as nutrition and feed research, nutrition and reproduction, nutrition ecology and nutritional immunology which provide technical support for efficient ecological reproduction; Genetics and breeding in aquatic animals mainly studies laws of heredity and regulatory mechanism of important traits to achieve the purpose of improving economic characters by purposeful hybridization, selection, cell engineering, gene engineering which could modified genetic composition of aquatic animals; Aquaculture and multiplication technology and equipments mainly studies on aquatic animal reproduction techniques, ecological cultivation pattern, efficient development of intensive aquaculture system and cyclic utilization of water to make aquaculture efficient, sustainable and healthy development from reproductive biology, aquaculture and fishery ecology , model of circulating water, water treatment technology and other aspects.
