1Introduction to Discipline

Biology is the natural science that studies the structure, function, ontogeny, development and the relationship with the surrounding environment of organisms, has formed a comprehensive research system with interdiscipline and multiple technology application. By combining the microcosmic and macroscopic view, part and whole, structure and function, the overall development tendency is researching the phenomenon of life and the rules of the activity through different levels such as molecule, cell, tissue, organ, system, individual, population,  community and ecosystem. Today's life science, as the most active fields in natural science, is in the eve before a major breakthrough. Biology research in our school, has distinctive characteristics of marine and aquatic life in academic ideas, research contents, technical route, experimental methods and research results.  This subject mainly has the following research directions: Aquatic Biology, Biochemistry,Molecular Biology, Physiology, Ecology and Developmental Biology.
